It all started on the trail.
I was inspired to found Mesa because of my experiences hiking the 485-mile Colorado Trail and working for the National Park Service on the Appalachian Trail. Too often, my backcountry meals consisted of ramen or cheesy pasta — a.k.a. mostly empty carbs and fats. So, I took a stand. I worked to develop new recipes that provide the nutrition we recreationalists need with the healthy and hearty qualities we expect. When Caroline joined, Mesa began branching out to create offerings like Trail Spice.
